#295 Ivan “The Terrible” Blacka

 

Ivan was one of the top East Coast riders in the mid 70’s and also spent time racing in California before going to the UK to race professionally in the famed British League for the Edinburgh Monarchs! 
He was the first rider ever at Champion Speedway to make it to the 60 yard line in the handicap program and went on to be the most successful East Coast rider who tried his hand at the UK, spending multiple seasons in England and also racing in Australia!

Rowdy Rick was an expert Flat-tracker who became a great Speedway rider and was one of the East Coast’s most popular showmen! He competed in and won events in both disciplines up and down the East Coast with his bandana flapping in the wind and his front wheel in the air half the time! He was also an accomplished Sprint car driver!

Dave Robinson

Dave was a very good Motocross rider and one of the early pioneer Speedway riders here in NY when it first got started again in 1974-75.
Dave promoted many of the early Motocross events in upstate NY when it was first getting started again in the late 60’s and early 70’s and was the owner of the famous Robinson Cycle Sales business in Rochester, where many of the area’s top Motocross, Enduro, Flat-track and Speedway riders were employed. 
Dave made a huge contribution to the growth of Speedway by helping his Brother Bob to start the track in Batavia at the Genesee County Fairgrounds and by stocking new and used JAP and JAWA bikes at the shop. He sponsored numerous riders and was always eager to assist anyone who needed it.

#99 Tom Robinson

T.R. was known as one of the top local Expert Flat Track racers taking many wins in the 60’s and 70’s while operating his own well-known shop, Robinson Rochester Cycle Sales!
Tom has always spent countless hours and dollars helping aspiring racers, both in his shop and at the tracks. In recent years he has been an integral part of supporting new adult and junior Speedway racers. 

#71 Bob Robinson

BUILDERS CATEGORY
Bob was a great Expert Flat-track racer taking many wins locally and was also a very solid Division One Speedway rider. 
He contributed to the growth of East Coast Speedway as a rider but it was his efforts as a promoter that may have been his biggest accomplishment in Speedway. Bob, along with the help of his brothers, were the first to run Speedway on the East Coast since the War, when they opened the Genesee County Fairgrounds track in Batavia in 1975.  

#101 Danny “Moonbeam” Fallon  

His immensely popular following and loyal fan base made him a crowd favorite and a rider of true legendary status. His presence and knowledge at the racetrack was respected by all. Danny coached many a new rider to the sport and even coached the veteran riders as well. Danny had a knack for mentor-ship.

#75 “Hurricane” Hank Bassett

From an early age, motors and motorcycles were Hank’s passion. Hank began his racing career as a moto-cross rider transitioning to Speedway track racing in his early twenties. He was a four-time track champion at Champion Speedway (Owego) in the late 70’s and early 80’s where he set a track record winning 12 consecutive main events. Hank raced in upstate New York, Canada, Florida, California and was regarded by many in the racing world as one of the best riders of his time.
